Privacy Policy — Autoplay Blocker

LAST UPDATED: 2026-07-20

Autoplay Blocker is a free browser extension. This policy covers the extension itself and describes what data it collects: none.

Data collection

Autoplay Blocker does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data. It has no server. Specifically, it does not:

The extension makes no network requests of its own.

Data handled locally

To do its job, Autoplay Blocker inspects media players (video and audio elements, and embedded player frames) on the sites you have enabled it for, in order to stop them from auto-playing. All of that processing happens locally in your browser — nothing is sent to the developer, sold, or shared. The extension only runs on sites you explicitly enable through its switch; on every other site it has no access at all, by design. The same data type ("website content") is declared on the extension's Chrome Web Store privacy disclosure.

Local storage

Your list of enabled sites is stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in extension storage. It never leaves your browser and is deleted when you uninstall the extension. The per-page blocked-attempt count shown in the popup is kept only for the current browser session.

Permissions

Autoplay Blocker requests the minimum permissions for its single purpose: activeTab (show the right site in the popup when you open it), scripting (run the blocking script on sites you enabled), and storage (save your per-site list on your device). Site access itself is granted one site at a time, only when you flip the switch, through the browser's own permission prompt — and it is removed again when you turn the switch off.

The hub website

Everything above describes the extension, which ships zero telemetry — always. This website (yonasol.com) uses Google Analytics to count page visits. That is standard site analytics, disclosed here, and is never extension behavior.

Changes

If a future version ever changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the extension's store listing data disclosures will be updated to match.
